Small sized covers are generally too large for a newborn.
For all the velcro covers, you are looking
for waist and leg measurements that fall in about the same place in the
range. The smallest leg measurements were taken when the cover was fastened
on the smallest waist setting. If your baby’s waist measurement is on the
lower end of the range and the leg measurement is on the higher end of the
range, the cover will probably be too tight at the legs.

Author: Dwan I do like these covers. They don't hold in the heat as much as other covers I've used but they don't hold in the messes well either. They are very good for short amounts of time but not for naps or overnight. The trim really is very soft as far as diaper covers go. I love the fold back tabs! This is such a great feature. As is the cross over velcro. This is a great feature especially when you move to a larger size. I haven't had any staining problems. I would say that the velcro doesn't last as long on Thirsties as it does on others (Prorap). I have been using size Med. for probably 5 months now and the velcro is starting to wear out. It lasted a long time considering they get washed and used A LOT! Great product, but maybe not worth the money.
Author: Stacie I am in love with my Thirsties cover. I only have one right now and am getting more this coming week. I tried the BSWW and I thought it was awful. These are so great on my chubby little girl, they fit wonderfully! I wish I had bought these to begin with. I love the feel of the fabric and the fact that they clean up so nice. They are very trim and have so many cute colors! I have yet to have any leaks with thirtsties. I just cant say enough about these covers! I will not be trying anything but these for my daughter!
