You should use a swim diaper only while in the pool. It is not made to take the place of a regular cloth diaper or cloth diaper cover (you can put a prefold on there on the way to the pool, the swim diaper can act as a diaper cover for a short amount of time). Machine wash and dry.

Note: This is not a diaper in the sense that we use the word diaper on the rest of the website. Kushies uses the word diaper in the product name to be consistent with the disposable types. It does not however act like what we think of as a diaper - that is cloth in some form that absorbs.

All swim diapers (disposable included) are made to keep poop in the diaper and out of the pool. Even the disposables don't absorb pee. If you think about it, they couldn't absorb anything or when you got in the pool they would just absorb the pool water until the diaper was full.

I just started using this swim diaper on my fairly chubby 9 month old. It is softer than most of the regular cloth diaper covers that I have used. It seems to keep the poop in very well and I like the elastic at the back. Much softer and nicer than the little swimmers diapers.
